Daily Market Report – April 10, 2026

In the USA, the inflation rate (https://www.bls.gov/news.release/cpi.toc.htm) rose by 3.3% year-on-year in March; the core rate excluding energy and food increased by 2.6% year-on-year. The main driver was energy: The gasoline price index jumped by 21.2% compared to the previous month, and the overall energy index rose by 10.9%. The fact that the numbers largely met expectations prevented greater selling pressure. The S&P 500 (SP:SPX) closed 0.11% weaker at 6,817 points, the Dow Jones (DJ:DJI) lost 0.56%, while the Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQ:IXIC) gained 0.35% to 22,903 points thanks to semiconductor stocks; in Europe, the Stoxx 600 (INDEX:STOXX) rose by 0.37%.

The yield on ten-year US Treasury bonds (TVC:US10Y) rose slightly to 4.317% after the data, while the yield on two-year bonds increased to 3.804%; the market thus acknowledges that the oil price shock has now visibly affected official inflation. At the same time, the dollar index (TVC:DXY) fell by 0.22% to 98.66, while the euro against the dollar (FX:EURUSD) rose to 1.1729. In the oil market, prices eased slightly after a turbulent day: Brent (TVC:UKOIL) closed at $95.20 per barrel, WTI (TVC:USOIL) at $96.57. Market participants reacted on one hand to the rise in inflation but hope on the other hand that talks between the USA and Iran over the weekend could gradually reopen the Strait of Hormuz for regular traffic.

Looking ahead, the earnings season is now in focus, and the bar is set high. According to Factset, earnings for companies in the S&P 500 (SP:SPX) are expected to grow by about ~14-15% year-on-year in 2026E (EPS), marking the third consecutive year of double-digit growth. This growth is significantly above the long-term average (~8-9%). The quarterly profile according to FactSet: • Q1 2026: ~11-13% • Q2–Q4 2026: ~15%+ The technology sector is expected to perform particularly well, while the healthcare sector lags behind. Next week, Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) will kick off the earnings season in the USA on Monday, followed by JPMorgan Chase (NYSE:JPM), Citigroup (NYSE:C), and Wells Fargo (NYSE:WFC) on Tuesday; also reporting will be Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX), Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ), and PepsiCo (NASDAQ:PEP).

Täglicher Marktbericht – 10. April 2026
